گزارش فوری مقادیر بحرانی تأثیر بسزایی در حیات بیمار یا تفسیر و ماهیت تشخیص و پیشگیری از بیماری دارد. در برخی موارد به دلیل عدم شناسایی مقادیر بحرانی و عدم گزارش فوری آنها به پزشک و یا بیمار، ایمنی بیمار به خطر افتاده که منجر به تشخیص دیرتر مورد خطر و ایجاد عوارض جدی در بیمار شده است.
